This week was full of surprises!  (And I may have purchased a few things, too…).

Thursday was, as my roommate put it, like my birthday: I came home to a box of chocolate-covered strawberries from my father and stepmom, and a package from Harperteen. For the record, my birthday is in January, the strawberries are from Easter (UPS never notified me that they dropped off a box of perishable goods at the front office of my complex and the front office just let the box of strawberries sit there for a month….ewwww! Anyway, Dad fixed it. Like Dads are supposed to. But I digress.). The berries are delicious and this book looks like it’s going to be great!

This was an awesome gift from author Linda Poitevin! Rachel at Parajunkee’s View asked if I’d help her out with a twitter party for Linda a couple of weeks ago, and of course I said yes! It was a lot of fun, I made some new friends, added two more books to my TBR pile *chuckles* and earlier this week, an envelope shows up from Linda with my name on it. That was so thoughtful, so thank you!

Last weekend was Embassy Weekend here in Washington, DC, and my friend and colleague, Lisa, went down to Embassy Row with another coworker of ours to tour the embassies, and mainly to visit the Turkish Embassy, because she will be traveling to Turkey, JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT, this fall. There was someone making handmade – for lack of a better word – paintings, using gel and ink, and then laying the paper on the gel to pull the ink out of it. Anyway, she had bookmarks she had created, and Lisa knows how much I love to read, so she grabbed one for me. :D

This week’s blogspiration comes not from somewhere, but from someone… near and dear to my heart.  I’ve known him since I was 10 and he was 7; he was my next-door neighbor growing up and his family is like my family.  Even though I moved away 9 years ago, we’ve never lost touch and he’s one of the most in touch, profound and talented people I know.  So when he posted this on Facebook earlier in the week, I told him I had to steal it for this week’s post:

Right now we are on a giant rock blazing through space on a perfect axis while orbiting the sun..which happens to be the perfect distance away from us to allow our existence to be a possibility. If this doesn’t blow your mind you should check your pulse.

Jennifer became addicted to books when she randomly picked up a Sweet Valley High book in grade school. She never looked back. After blowing through the SVH and SVU series faster than her parents could put them in her hands, she began perusing her stepfather's bookshelves and reading fantasy like Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series, which she still maintains is some of the best fantasy ever. She collects books like the Duggar family collects kids.

    that picture is beautiful and magnificent! I can’t believe your friend actually saw that beauty!
    I hope you enjoy all your new books and that the strawberries tasted good! candy apples arrived at my house on wednesday for my birthday, which was in april, but the apples were still delicious!
    I hope you enjoy Darkness Before Dawn! (the synopsis is fantastic!) and the rest of your new books! (deadly cool is hilarious!)

      I do! Where are you?! Ross will be happy to know you like his photo; he lives near where it was taken (our hometown!). And candy apples are SO NOM.
      I can’t wait to read Deadly Cool. I have the follow up, Social Suicide, on my shelf so I had to get that too.

    That picture is amazing! Certainly puts mine to shame!

    And just the other day, I was walking through campus and it suddenly occurred to me that gravity isn’t necessarily a guarantee. What if it just stopped working? What then?

    Oh my GOODNESS! What a mailbox! I absolutely ADORE Shatter Me, and I hear such good things about Deadly Cool! Also, I think I went to buy Sins of the Angels after reading Bex’ review a few months ago, but couldn’t find it on Amazon (as in, it was available to AU), and I was SAD :(

    ALSO: DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEE! Enjoy :)

    And, uh… WOW. Your Blogspiration… I’m wrapped up in a shirt, a cardigan, my THICKEST scarf, and a padded/quilted jacket and it sitll gave me chills. WOW is your friend talented, and his quote :O
